Flood Prevention Tips from the City of Bellevue

Here are some tips from the City of Bellevue. You can help prevent flooding in your neighborhood by following these simple tips.

  1. Clear debris from storm drains near your home
  2. Do not block water flow by dumping trash or yard debris into streams, wetlands or drainage ditches.
  3. Leave natural vegetation on steep slopes along streams and lakes.
  4. Clean you gutters, downspouts and cleanouts twice a year.
  5. Know that standard property insurance doesn’t cover flood damage. Ask your agent about flood insurance, which is available even if you don’t live in a floor plain.
  6. Call Bellevue Utilities 425-452-7840 if your home is in danger of flooding. Call 911 for emergencies.
  7. To find out if your property is in a  flood plan call Utilities at 425-452-7869.
